Description
  • Gasenshi is a type of traditional Japanese ‘drawing’ paper used primarily for sumi-e (brush painting) and shodo (brush writing).
  • The addition of bamboo and straw fiber makes gasenshi soft and absorbent
  • These papers come to us from the papermaker folded in thirds and the soft marks are a result of this
  • They flatten or iron out and disappear when work is mounted.
  • It is ideal for beginners in ink painting as it suppresses smudging and is easy to draw with good brushstrokes. It is a slightly thick paper.
